Superheroes

Coco Rocha was featured in American Vogue in May 2008 and the theme was superheroes, she wore some incredible outfits created by the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, Martin Margiela, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rick Owens and Armani. The outfits are amazing each portraying a different take on a superhero. I really like this photoshoot because of the originality in the designs and the poses that she is making make for exciting and interesting photos.

Geometry Assignment

For one of our modules we were required to create a square and a triangle, split these up into unequal shapes and then change the scale, rotate, flip horizontally/vertically to create 6 different patterns for each shape. This was all done to become a design for a final product, I chose cushions for mine. We then had to work out what the costing would be for a product like this and how we would go about creating it.

Satin and Chiffon

At the end of 6th form we had a summer ball/prom and instead of buying a dress I wanted to make one, so I bought some gold coloured satin and chiffon and draped and played around with it until I finally got to the point where I liked it! And this is the result....

Bronzed Feathers

This is my A Level textiles coursework which was based on feathers, the first piece I made was a quilted wall hanging and I layered fabrics and burnt them and twisted them to give different textures and effects. I then free stitched over this to hold all the fabric together. The second piece I made was a bodice with bronzed feathers/leaves across it and an embellished piece across half of the bodice, there is also piece which goes along the back diagonally.

Bang!

Fireworks night has been and gone once again and through the wind and the rain I tried to get some decent photos of them, sorry if some of them aren't quite as clear as others although sometimes that can make for a more exciting photo perhaps? I love the intense colours and shapes that fireworks make and think they're so inspiring.

Ink.

We went to a house party a little while ago and went dressed as cavegirls and my housemate, who also studies Fashion Design, wanted some tribal tattoos, so I got out the face paint and a paintbrush and started scribbling on her and this is what it ended up looking like.

Harvey Nichols Fashion Show

Two other fashion students and myself attended an interactive fashion show at Harvey Nichols in Leeds, the models walked around the shop floor wearing designer clothes which ranged from, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana and Diane Von Furstenberg. This was an amazing opportunity to see the clothes styled and up close.
