Madame Butterfly
Some photos of the making up process:
The next two images are taken from the Fashion Show and are copyright to Sheila Burnett ©
In September of 2006 when I had just started 6th form we were given an amazing opportunity to take part in a fashion show hosted by the Royal Albert Hall. The Fashion Show was based upon Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly and we had to design, create and model our outfits on the set. We got the chnace to work with industry professionals and find out all about how much effort and organisation it takes to run a fashion show. It was an incredible opportunuity to be given and one which I will never forget. My outfit is the one which is pink, has three layers on the skirt, which each have screen printed fans which I made on them, the hems on the layers of the skirts were fitted with a thick wire to give movement and fluidty to the design, the bodice was simpler with a few flower decorations on it. I also made a fan which was decorated with textural plaeted silk which I then dyed to fit in with the colour scheme.

Her song TiK ToK has been swimming around in my head all weekend, I have it on repeat all the time! I really like her style so here are a few pictures.

//Repetition//
These are my A Level Art Exam pieces and some preparation work which we had to mount to display. These pieces were based upon the theme 'Repetition' and I used fruit to show this (with the seeds etc.) I used bright colours so that it would make an impact when it was seen, I used different types of media to make the piece textural and more exciting.
Memories
For this project my theme was Memories, I looked back through old photos from when my grandma and grandpa were young and at their wedding day and pictures from when my great grandad was in the army and photocopied these along with some letters that were sent to and from people. I had one large canvas and little ones on it, this is supposed to represent like a page from a photo album (with the little page corner in he top right hand corner) and i tried to portray a different memory onto each canvas. I also made another piece to go with this, which is the box, I filled this with some photos, letter, objects and fabric to create a 'Memory box' type thing.
Day Trip to York
(I used this on a design for a t-shirt)
Earlier this year we had a group project and for it we had to go to York to take some inspirational photos which would go with our trend research as well as helping to inspire our final designs. Here is a little selection....

Superheroes
Coco Rocha was featured in American Vogue in May 2008 and the theme was superheroes, she wore some incredible outfits created by the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, Martin Margiela, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rick Owens and Armani. The outfits are amazing each portraying a different take on a superhero. I really like this photoshoot because of the originality in the designs and the poses that she is making make for exciting and interesting photos.
